Östfold Line

Östfold Line to be equipped with ERTMS through Vectura

Now when Norway is introducing ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) on the eastern part of the Östfold Line, Vectura is supplying a large part of the necessary technical competence. The southbound line from Oslo connects up with the Norway/Vänern Line to Gothenburg.

The total budget for the project is SEK 16.5 million.

“It is our largest project to date on behalf of Jernbaneverket,” says Jan-Erik Jansson, Business  Manager for Vectura’s operations in Norway. “And at the same time it is probably one of the most extensive projects ever undertaken by a Swedish consultancy in Norway.”

Vectura has principal responsibility for the railway technology on this part of the Östfold Line. The scope of work includes not only the signal system and ERTMS, but also telecoms, tracks, catenaries, rock and soil mechanics, etc.

As far as ERTMS is concerned, Vectura has a leading market position, and the company has basically been engaged on all assignments of this type that are under way in Sweden.

The work on the Östfold Line is being conducted in cooperation with three Norwegian firms as sub-consultants: Reinertsen, Tegn3 and NGI. Through this cooperation, Vectura is able to cover the entire project, from detailed development plan and construction documents through the construction phase up to completed infrastructure.
